baby's first motorcycle ride
Tuesday, August 12, 2008Labels: all you need is love, everything else
Over the weekend my father-in-law got a motorcycle. He's wanted one forever and was finally able to get one. Sunday evening Josh and I stopped by to check it out. I had never even sat on a motorcycle so I asked if I could. Scott, my father-in-law, asked if I wanted to go for a ride. Josh agreed for me. I stuttered around and asked if they had a helmet for me. Of course they did. I said that I was wearing flip flops but they agreed it was okay. Scott got on the bike and they explained how to climb on. My mother-in-law reminded Scott that I was pregnant about four times before we headed down the driveway. Baby and I had our first motorcycle ride at the same time.
We headed down the block with my hands clinched on the handrail as tightly as I could. He drove down about five miles to a nearby town (sticking to the speed limit!). As we slowed down to turn around in the town Scott leaned back and asked if I was doing okay. I didn't tell him that I had just prayed the whole way there and how stupid I felt for taking my first ever motorcycle ride at 7 1/2 months pregnant. "Great!", I said.
Overall the ride wasn't bad or even really scary for that matter (once I got used to it). I just felt so...exposed. I kept thinking about what terrible road rash I would get if we crashed. I thought about how fast the other drivers near us were going. Josh excitedly asked after my short ride if I loved it. (Poor guy would do anything to have his own motorcycle.) I said, "Uh, it was pretty good". Later in the evening Josh admitted that he was a little bummed I didn't really like it. He said, "I always thought my wife would like riding motorcycles with me". Doesn't look like that is the case for me...
I didn't want to say that I can't even imagine him having one now.
ice cream and open air driving

Josh's parents are camping this week so Josh has free reign over his dad's 1968 Corvette. (Or as Josh refers to it "his inheritance".) Last night after work Josh went over and swapped his car for the Vette. He suggested we take a cruise in it and get some ice cream. The boy sure knows how to make me happy!

I love that it now will feel like summer. I love the food, flea markets, parades, all of the people out and about, the cookouts, the walking around, and the fireworks!
Have a happy fourth of July!
appreciating taste
Thursday, February 28, 2008Yesterday was the first day that things have tasted right since first getting sick last week. Josh was so happy to hear that I was feeling better that he took me out to supper. I've been craving Chili's french fries so we headed there. It tasted like the best meal I had ever had. It's funny how being sick makes you appreciate things like that. Labels: everything else
Other things I'm appreciating today:
- being able to breath out of my nose again
- not coughing so much
- feeling like I have the energy to do something other than lay on the couch all evening
- tomorrow is Friday
more snow
Tuesday, February 26, 2008Labels: everything else
It snowed...again. As much as I hate it and I'm ready for spring, I can't help but see how gorgeous this snow is. We got about two inches of that really heavy sticky snow. The trees look amazing! If I didn't feel like garbage still and the wind wasn't blowing, I would be out there with my camera. It's all I can do to not be outside right now.
flu = bad
Monday, February 25, 2008So much for a healthy February... I woke up Thursday with the flu. Boy, did that suck. I just spent four days in my apartment barely moving from the couch back to bed. My parents had it too but Josh, the lucky guy, managed to escape with only a slight touch of the flu. I do believe I'm on the mend but it takes awhile to get back into the swing of things after four days of nothing. Posting may be light this week. Hope you all are staying healthy and away from the flu! Labels: everything else

SNOW DAY
Friday, February 01, 2008Labels: everything else
Working in town has it's benefits, but it also means that no matter how bad the weather I've still got to get into work. Work was called off today and that NEVER happens. I feel like a kid that found out there was no school. The Midwest has had a little bit of snow. Gotta go enjoy my Snow Day!

Josh and I went to see Juno on Saturday. We had to drive a little further than usual since it wasn't playing in our area. (Although I just checked and it opened this week here.) I loved it! We saw a preview for it months ago and I wanted to see it immediately. I was worried I had built it up too much but I was not disappointed. Although it was hilarious, it was also touching and I got a bit choked up at the end.
I loved the music in it too...so much that we drove to three different stores looking for the soundtrack after the movie. Turns out that even though you can download it off iTunes, you can't buy it on cd until tomorrow.
We've been quoting Juno since we saw it on Saturday. There were so many good lines that it was hard to catch them all. I might have to go see it again!
a little snow

We have snow! My thinking is that if it has to be cold, it might as well snow. It started last night and is supposed to continue through tomorrow. It definitely puts me more in the Christmas mood.
break needed
Wednesday, November 21, 2007I'll be back on Monday. Until then, I plan on: Labels: christmas cheer, everything else
- eating mashed potatoes and some pumpkin pie
- watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade
- sleeping in (even if it's just a little bit)
- snuggling with my hubby and dog
- listening to Christmas music
- eating out with friends
- decorating for Christmas (huzzah!!)
- taking lots of pictures...all for fun, none for business
- doing a little Christmas shopping
- starting some crocheting
- and actually relaxing!
I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!
in my sickness stupor
Wednesday, November 07, 2007Labels: everything else
On Friday Josh and I went to Meijer to pick up a few things even though we were both feeling sick. We had to laugh when we realized we were buying Kleenex, Airborne, Breathe Right strips, cough drops, Theraflu Vapor patches, and chicken noodle soup.
I had never tried the vapor patches before but I liked VapoRub so I figured it worked the same. By the time we got home I was so exhausted. I couldn't breathe through my nose at all so I decided to try out the patch. I put one on before bed and it seemed to help a bit that night. Saturday night after my shot of Nyquil I pulled another patch out and put it on my chest.
When I woke up Sunday morning the spot where I had put the patch was throbbing a bit. I peeled the patch off and went on with my day. I realized Monday that I had a huge red rash where that patch was. Last night while trying not to itch Josh pulled out the box to read if there were any instructions.
I hear him in the other room say "Do not apply directly to the skin". I think I replied "whatever, that doesn't make any sense". Uh yeah, it says it on the box and the actual package for each patch! Hmm...didn't so much catch that. In my defense I was not thinking clearly due to my cold but also why would you not stick one of those things on your skin? So the picture on the front of the box has a person wearing a t-shirt and the patch on top of that. But it's probably a common mistake, right?
My cold is much better except now I'm itching like crazy...I just can't win!

weekend over
Monday, October 29, 2007Labels: everything else
Another jam-packed weekend is over... Ours included some photo shoots (one of which included one of my favorite babies), a couple parks, old friends, babysitting our niece, and laughing a lot. Josh and I both got a new fall sweater to kick off the sudden change in leaves and weather. I love this. I'm still hoping that the leaves stay on the trees through next weekend's five photo shoots.

oh fall, how I love you
Wednesday, October 10, 2007Labels: everything else
Just last Thursday I was talking about how it didn't feel like fall. But today...woohoo, high of 57 degrees today. I'll be honest, I stood at the closet for a good five minutes trying to pick out what scarf to wear. I love my fall jackets, boots, sweaters... I'm hoping that it really will stay cool this time and I can start wearing them all. I will admit that it was a lot colder on my bike this morning and it's kind of tricky to ride in clogs. Hm, something I'll have to get used to!
happy friday
Friday, October 05, 2007All I really have to say today is that I'm thankful it's Friday. Labels: everything else
And as my mom said to me this morning, "I hope you will find a way to be happy".
complete randomness
Tuesday, September 18, 2007I'm not thinking clearly due to what is hopefully just allergies. Here are some things that are jumping around in my head: Labels: everything else
- I still can't get over the number of photo shoots I have coming up. Until November 3rd, I have two per weekend except for one Sunday and a Saturday on a different weekend. That's ELEVEN sessions. The actual sessions I'm so excited about. I find myself thinking about each one, coming up with different ideas. I don't know how I do that. I am a little nervous about all of that processing I will have to do and keep up to make it through October!
- The one Saturday in October that I'm purposely keeping free from photography is a day for Josh and I. We had thought about going to Starved Rock or staying overnight at a bed and breakfast. Then we realized we would have more fun just going to Ikea for the day. I spent some time yesterday marking up the newest catalog in preparation.
- Josh has always been incredibly jealous of this blanket. Jess made it for me as a gift. Over the weekend we finally got some fabric purchased so I can make Josh one of his very own. Now I just have to actually do it!
- I got some honey at the last farmer's market we went to. They say that local honey can actually help with allergies. Right now I'm just glad I have it for my sore throat.
- I'm still going strong with my 365 series on Flickr. I honestly cannot believe that I've only missed one day. I know that I will be a little relieved when the year is over and I don't have to take a picture every day. I kind of think that I will keep doing it just because now it's habit.
tattoo you?
Tuesday, September 11, 2007Josh and I watched some marathon episodes of LA Ink the other night. Whenever I watch those types of shows, I always contemplate (even for just a second) getting a tattoo. Honestly I'm not a fan of tattoos. I can appreciate them for the art that they are but I would never get one. I just think that there are so few things/reasons that would constitute permanently marking your body. I mean, twenty years down the road will that [insert tat here] really be what you want? Think of all those guys that got barbwire bands around their biceps. Ugh. Labels: everything else
When I was in college Jess and I would occasionally talk about getting tattoos. We talked like we would actually go through with it and even went to a tattoo place once to look through books. (I probably just gave my mom a heart attack.) We could really just never find anything that really "spoke" to us.
I don't know, maybe if there was something really significant and important to me...I may consider getting a very small tattoo in a spot that no one would see. Nobody would ever see it or even know I had it. Although if my mom ever really pissed me off (which is highly unlikely) I could throw at her "Well I have a tattoo!". Seriously though, I just don't know that I could do it.
mind of vacation
Tuesday, August 28, 2007Last night I told Josh that instead of going to work we should pack up some stuff and our dog and drive somewhere. I suggested we drive to Canada because I've never been, although we weren't sure if you needed passports now. Wherever we'd drive to, there would be a nice Bed & Breakfast by a lake. We wouldn't have to talk to anybody except the nice old couple running the place. We would sit by the lake while Bebo happily laid in the grass. Labels: everything else
Since we can't really do that, I think I'm going to take a mental vacation for a few days. You can still find me on flickr.

guilt-free three
Monday, July 23, 2007Labels: everything else
Our Harry Potter book finally arrived around 3:00 on Saturday. Somehow in between a pork chop supper benefit, baking, grocery shopping, visiting a friend and her little one, a bridal shower... I was able to read the book. I finished last night sitting in my bedroom crying. It's okay, I cry at the end of a lot of books. Now I'm dying to talk about it but don't know anyone else that's done with it.
Saturday night Josh rented Ghost Rider since it was a movie he didn't think I would really like (I was busy reading). That night when we finally went to bed he brought up his Guilt-Free Three. (Guilt-Free Three is a list of three celebrities that you could "hook up with" if you had the chance. Mine is always rotating but usually includes Jake Gyllenhaal. Josh's usually includes Diane Lane.) Josh said, "You know, tonight I do think that Eva Mendes and JK Rowling are on my Guilt-Free Three."
opening night
Thursday, July 12, 2007I really like seeing a movie on opening night. It's somewhat exciting, don't you think? Josh and I saw the new Harry Potter last night. I must say it was very enjoyable! I can't believe the first movie came out back in 2001. Do you remember all of those crazy people that were so against the books? They said they taught witchcraft. Ha! Yes, actually...I learned how to stupefy someone from the new movie. Labels: everything else
Anyway, the movie was excellent. The casting of the new characters was dead-on. Good grief, Luna? She was totally meant for that part. Even with my pounding headache by the end, I was still really into it. When we left Josh felt terrible that I had such a bad headache. He asked if I wanted him to take me to see it again so I could enjoy it more. I said that it was ok and I still enjoyed it. He said, "No. Seriously. I would go see it again!"

I'm telling myself that today is Friday. That will get me through the day. Of course that means that Thursday is then another Monday but I'll deal with that then. I'm looking forward to having tomorrow off. Josh and I are going to a couple flea markets and definitely the 4th of July parade. So woohoo for tomorrow...hope everyone has a happy Independence day!

These cute little guys started popping their heads up this past week. I think there is around six little babies and two bigger ones. I love to watch them! One will peek his head out and then soon there are three or four more looking out. Bebo goes crazy when he sees them. I think he wants to play with them. We've got at least three tunnels in our yard where they'll pop up from time to time. I googled ground squirrel and found out that they are Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrels. They make this funny little chirping sound when we get close.
Now this is a squirrel I'm not afraid of! (Which by the way, isn't all that silly! Read this.)

Last night Josh and I needed to drop something off at his parent's house. Unfortunately they are on vacation and forgot to give us a garage key before they left. We headed over anyway because Josh has "broken in" many times when he's been locked out. I guess his dad was listening when Josh told them about it a few weeks ago because would you believe that all of the windows were locked? I sat with my feet in their pool while Josh tried to jimmy the windows. After being unsuccessful at his parent's we stopped by his grandparent's house. Of course they weren't home but we were able to "break in" to their house....with a key in the back of their mailbox. Only in a small town...
When we got home we did a three and a half mile bike ride which was much easier than that first one. We first went to mapmyride.com and plotted a route. The minute we got home I figured how many calories I burnt. I always feel like it should be so much more than it is. I did burn off 3/4 of the Hershey's chocolate bar that I ate around 2:00 yesterday. I also figured that every time I go either to or from work I burn about 18 calories. That's 72 calories a day! Which is probably the rest of that chocolate bar...
i have to pack
Friday, June 08, 2007Today I am driving to Milwaukee with my best friend, Jess. We are road tripping to the Bead & Button Show, which I am told is the mother of all bead shows. Jess makes jewelry and loves beads. Look at this little clock she just made from a watch face, wire and beads. So anyway, I have about a billion things to do because I hate to pack and don't do it until the very last minute. Labels: everything else
My To Do List
1. Decide what to wear this weekend.
2. Fold the rest of the clean laundry.
3. Vacuum our nasty floors.
4. Take the recycling to the bins because we can't actually fit anything else in ours. (Hmm...maybe time to empty them.)
5. Read up on all blogs.
6. Make sure camera is ready to go.
7. Pack... ugh.
Well I better get busy!
needing rainboots
Wednesday, May 30, 2007Labels: everything else
I put my rainboots on after church on Sunday because they had forecasted rain all day. It had been raining pretty much all morning so I felt like they were necessary. It stopped raining within 30 minutes of me putting them on. Those should have been my backup plan for rain during the outdoor wedding. Put them on, no rain...

i want to ride my bicycle
Monday, May 14, 2007Labels: be green, everything else
When my parents first got married, they bought matching bikes. Earlier this month they invested in some new bikes and decided to sell the old ones on our garage sale. I couldn't bare the thought of someone else riding my mom's old bike so I decided to take it. Last summer I was riding my custom bike that I got for $10. It basically started to fall apart by the end of the summer and we had to get rid of it.
Lately I've been really wishing I had a bike. With a husband who is obsessed with cycling, it's hard for some of that not to rub off. Plus it bothers me to drive my car 7 blocks to and from work everyday when I could save on gas and carbon emissions by riding a bike. So now I'm riding this rockin' bike!
graduation
Monday, May 07, 2007Labels: everything else
My husband has successfully graduated from college! You can view a photoset of the day on Flickr. The ceremony was held outdoors and like my mom predicted, it did not rain although it looked like it could. It was a nice ceremony, complete with a Eureka tradition of cutting ivy.

Everything went well at the graduation party I threw him. My parents were a huge help. My dad ended up grilling all of the meat by himself. There were a ton of hamburgers too. (Thanks again, Dad.) Josh had a blast playing with his little cousins.
I completely shocked Josh by getting him a Nintendo Wii. He had no idea and I actually had him convinced that I didn't have anything for him yet. It was awesome to surprise him like that.
We ended the night by having a bunch of Josh's college friends over to hang out at the apartment. It was a crazy long day but definitely a good one.

I would have to say William Howard Taft was my favorite president. He was the 27th president and the one to get stuck in the bathtub. What a funny guy.

February Fury... The Weather Channel made that up, not me. What a crazy day yesterday was. After getting stuck in the drive, Josh and I camped out in our little apartment. It snowed in our hallway. Bebo got good at peeing really quick. I learned to traipse around in Josh's huge boots. I also learned just how crappy of a building we live in. (Added some aftermath pictures to flickr.)
I worked on Knight Light stuff while Josh played video games. Then we watched Forrest Gump. It was a good time. My dad dug one of their cars out so I have a vehicle to use today. Hopefully they'll get our back lot dug out today. Okay, now I'm really ready for Spring!
ps. Happy Valentine's Day!
blizzard warning
Tuesday, February 13, 2007One of the bad things about working seven blocks from home is that you can't really ever get snowed in. I made it to work this morning...barely. My little grand am was not happy to be plowing through the snow drifts. They've changed our weather alert from Winter Storm Warning to Blizzard Warning. Um, yikes! Labels: everything else
Josh just sent me this: "A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS...MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST...HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED...STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE." Nice.
I'll be honest with you. I don't think anyone should be out on a day like this. It just seems silly. I'd like to be at home hibernating.
Edited (11:44am): We closed our office. My boss said, "If we don't go home now, we're not getting home." I almost got stuck in the middle of main street. That was a scary in-town drive home! I did get stuck in my driveway. Josh dug and a nice guy stopped and pulled me out with his SUV. I backed way up and gassed it through the snow. I made it! Crazy weather we're having.
computer arrived!
Thursday, February 08, 2007The tower for our new computer arrived yesterday! Josh and I were so excited to get it. So far I'm liking Vista although I won't know for awhile. One thing I already don't like is "Windows Mail" which is the successor to Outlook Express. Not impressed... For one, you now can't check your Hotmail email through it. I loved being able to check all of my emails in one place. The other thing it won't do is have separate identities. Josh and I used this so he could just switch to his identity and keep his emails separate and organized. Now we would have to set up a whole new Windows account for him which I think junks up the computer and then you have to switch back and forth. Blah, blah, blah... (After some research, apparently they have released a Windows Live Mail desktop program in Beta that is intended to replace Outlook Express.)
One thing that was really easy was the Windows Easy Transfer. You simply download a little program for your old computer, connect the two computers over your network and it'll transfer files, settings, whatever you want... I knew that I had a lot of stuff to transfer. Music alone is an insane amount but my pictures...whew. It took all night but was done this morning.
My least favorite thing about a new computer is trying to get everything the way you like it. It's a little different this time because we upgraded our operating system. Hopefully I'll really like Vista and so far it looks promising. I will tell you that our monitor is AMAZING. I am dying to install Photoshop and work on some pictures.

One of my favorite things about the start of a new year is new calendars. This year in the kitchen we are using a Kraft Foods calendar we received free with our Kraft Foods magazine. Every month has a new recipe. Josh and I made a pact yesterday morning to do each recipe sometime during that month. January is a beef stew recipe so I'm looking forward to it.
There's something so exciting about a new calendar. It's blank empty days calling out to be filled up. Thursday, November 30, 2006Over the weekend Josh and I watched White Christmas to help get us in the Christmas mood. After the movie got over all I wanted was some snow. For the past couple days, it's been in the low to mid-60's. Yes, you read that right... SIXTY at the end of November. Ugh. Labels: christmas cheer, everything else
I woke up this morning and suddenly there is a Winter Storm watch. This morning my car was cover in a thin layer of ice. And get this...tonight, 80% chance of 8-12 inches of snow. Wahuh? Didn't I just wear a t-shirt and hoodie yesterday?
It cracks me up. I really don't mind the cold or the snow. I just really hate the first big storm because people drive like idiots. It's like, how can you forget how to drive in bad weather just over the summer? If you're in an area that's getting or going to get hit with this crazy weather, stay safe and drive careful!
stuck in a car
Monday, November 27, 2006Josh and I drove to Wisconsin on Saturday for his family's Thanksgiving/Christmas. The drive is three and a half hours which doesn't seem too bad. Actually the ride there wasn't bad at all. I cross-stitched most of the way and we talked. The ride home though was quite different. Three and a half hours seemed like years. I was going crazy and since it was dark I couldn't do anything to keep me busy. I'm wondering if part of the problem is that I'm becoming more claustrophobic. I start to freak out a little because I can't stand up or move around. Poor Josh had to put up with me the whole way home. We were both so glad to be home! Labels: christmas cheer, everything else
thanksgiving

I hope everyove has a very good Thanksgiving. I'm busy watching the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and getting ready to boil sweet potatoes for lunch at Josh's folks.
Happy Thanksgiving!
christmas has started
Monday, November 20, 2006My mom informed me the other day that a local radio station had started playing all Christmas music. Friday afternoon I headed into town and listened to the Christmas station the whole way. I got to the first stoplight in town and looked to my right. There was a truck pulling a trailer FULL of Christmas trees. I'm sure I smiled like a goofball but I couldn't help it. It was suddenly like signs of Christmas. That evening I spent forever combing the aisles of Hobby Lobby. I looked through every row of Christmas ornaments and decorations. I decided I should take inventory of my Christmas decorations before I start buying new stuff. My goal for the beginning of the week is to go through all of my decorations and plan everything out. This way I can decorate on Sunday! Labels: christmas cheer, everything else, music
I already have started the morning off with the Elf Soundtrack. Gosh, I love Christmas. I can't believe it's on its way already.
you just never know

You never know what you're going to see out of my office window. That's right, I live and work in a small town.
heard it through the grapevine
Thursday, November 02, 2006A couple of weeks ago Josh and I had a voice mail from our friend Anna. She said, "Yeah, so I hear you guys had a baby. I'm uh, pretty sure you didn't because I just saw you in August... But uh, call me back." Labels: everything else
A friend of Anna's from Josh's hometown told her we had a baby! Anna said that she disagreed but the friend said, "No it's true. My mom told me." What in the world!?
I just had to laugh. I'm sure it's because Josh's sister had a baby but still...how do you mix that up!? Anna and I both thought it was pretty funny. I promised her that if I randomly had a baby I would be sure to let her know.
just a thought...

the katana
Thursday, October 19, 2006Labels: everything else
I was finally able to get a new phone with my Sprint contract. I picked out the Sanyo Katana which came in black, pink, blue and white. Of course, I chose the blue one. It's totally me. I love the phone even though I'm super frustrated with Sprint right now. That's a whole other story but I am writing a complaint letter.
A few months ago Josh got The Blade, Sprint's answer to the Razr. I was completely jealous of his skinny cool phone. Now I think he may be a little jealous of my Katana!

project runway
Thursday, July 20, 2006Labels: everything else
I have already been sucked into Project Runway after only two episodes. First of all, I was so sad by Malan being selected as out last night. I was just starting to like him! I guess the thing about this show is that I could love the designs but if I don't like the designer I just can't root for them. I loved Jay and his kookiness. And I was a huge Daniel V fan. I'm not sure who my favorite will be this season but it's got to be someone I can really get behind. So far I'm really liking Alison but that's purely based on her personality and how darn cute she is. The cool thing about watching this show is that Josh totally gets into it as well so we watch it together.
If you are into the show, check out Blogging Project Runway.

Monday, July 17, 2006New use for a Martini shaker: Lemonade Shake-ups Labels: everything else
Josh and I made ourselves some lemonade shake-ups tonight. Then we sat outside with bare feet and drank them. Now that is summer!
not working
Wednesday, July 05, 2006I am not at work today and it's . . . awesome. I slept until 9:00, just drank coffee outside where the breeze reminded me of Maine, and then enjoyed a bowl of Cocoa Krispies with my husband. Now...nothing is planned! I am so excited to have the rest of week off work and then this weekend go to Iowa. I could totally get used to this. Labels: everything else

My new header is a zoomed in version of this picture. I took this pic at Josh's folks from their swing. Honestly I didn't even get up from where I was sitting but it turned out awesome because I'm reflected in it. If you look close you can see Josh turning the crank on the ice cream maker.
little bird
Thursday, June 08, 2006Labels: everything else
This baby bird was perched on the ledge outside my office window for 10 minutes. I think he could see his reflection and didn't know what to do. He'd try to fly at the window and then chirp. Eventually another bird came and scared him away (the one on the left). So cool to be that close to a bird and it didn't fly away...

Monday, May 08, 2006Labels: everything else
Josh and I took a cruise in his dad's Corvette yesterday because the weather was BEAUTIFUL. Perfect way to end the weekend. All photos were taken from a moving vehicle so my apologies.
Should be a good week. Jess is getting married this weekend! I'm so excited!! Just a few more days! (Obviously excited because I just used four exclamation points in three sentences.)
spring
Monday, April 17, 2006Labels: everything else
Did everyone have a good Easter? Josh and I had a really good weekend. We had people over every night which is always a good thing. Plus we got to hang out with my brother and his girlfriend so that was cool. I'm having a hard time getting going this morning. I think it's from too much food this weekend... I probably shouldn't eat anything for the rest of the week.
It's been storming off and on all weekend. It rained yesterday which supposedly means it will rain for the next 7 Sundays. The sun is peeking through the clouds today though so that helps my case of the Mondays.

what? no power?
Friday, April 14, 2006So we're without power... There was a huge storm last night and I ended up in my bathroom hugging my dog. Hail, rain...everything. Now my town has no power. I showered in the dark and made it to work. Work has a generator but my cubicle doesn't have power. I borrowed this computer so I could check my email! Labels: everything else, nerd alert
I guess I'm going to go home for the day because not much I can do without power. At least it's a good excuse to take some time off, right?
Edited (10:40 a.m.): Well, our power came back on. I had already left home so I'm just using some vacation time. I had just talked to my mom about trying to get some of our food over to my in-laws because we had heard it could be 12 hours until we had power. Not five minutes later the power switched back on. As soon as it did I heard a popping sound outside so Josh and I went out to look. Our air conditioning unit was smoking and shooting sparks! Josh got the fire extenguisher but we didn't need it. It burnt itself right up. Nice, huh?
Man, last night was nuts. I got hardly any sleep. Our bedroom window had rain coming in through the top and I was sure it was going to get blown out. Definitely scary! Luckily it doesn't look like there was too much damage here in town.
Now I'm home for the day so that's exciting. I made some 7 layer dip and cleaned. I'm putting my time to good use!

The movie really stuck with me. I find myself thinking back to it even this morning.
fluffy runs
Wednesday, March 15, 2006Josh's car is running again. Good 'ol Fluffy started right up this morning. (It's name is Fluffy because the liner started falling down from the ceiling. Josh's family said it looked fluffy so it stuck. Even though now I put a hundred staples in it to hold it up.) Josh's dad thinks that we just need a new filter and maybe got some bad gas. That little beater has to last us at least another 15 months (which is when my car is paid off!). Labels: everything else
