about me

I'm 28 and live in central Illinois. I've been married to an amazing man for three years. We have a little white dog and just bought our first house! We are also expecting our first child in October. I LOVE design and photography. I'm busy getting my own business up and going. We also do what we can to be a little more eco-friendly.

using poach pods

I'm not a big fan of kitchen tools that are unitaskers, that do only one thing. You could end up with ten different gadgets sitting on your counter for something you do only once a month. That said, I knew that I had to get the Poachpod.

I never was a big fan of eggs until my dad introduced me to the poached egg. For years I've been trying to master the technique of poaching an egg. Although my dad has a system and it usually works, you don't always get a consistent result. I've tried everything to get the egg to stay together. Cracking it right into the water, cracking the egg onto a saucer first and slowly lowering that in... Sometimes things worked, sometimes not so much...

I was so anxious to try the poachpod and it worked wonderfully! The best poached eggs I've ever made, every time. (Even my dad would have to be impressed by those.)

YUM! I might have to invest in the Poachpod myself. When I was a kid my mom used to serve me poached eggs on toast, and cut it up into little bite sized squares (which resulted in the yolk making the bread all yummy)...

My sister taught me that you can poach an egg in the microwave if you crack it into a mug, add a tiny bit of water and poke the yoke (I think so it doesn't explode all over the microwave?)... anyway, it works pretty well but the Poachpods seem like a much better (and more refined) solution. :)
hmmm I've been thinking maybe I should get some sort of poaching device...partly because the eggs don't stay together and partly because it's such a pain in the butt to clean the pot after poaching eggs...I don't get it! Why does it stick like glue?

And these are cuuute...
