A few weeks ago I had the chance to shoot my very first maternity pictures. My very good friend, Emily, is due at the end of May and said that she would love to have me experiment with a maternity shoot.



Emily was pretty much the ideal first maternity shoot. Besides the fact that she's beautiful, she was so willing to try anything. I walked her around the house and we tried different positions everywhere.



It was kind of surreal to see her with that little baby belly. (Other than the bump in front, you'd never know she was pregnant!) Emily and I used to say that we were going to marry best friends, have houses right next to each other and our kids would be friends. As I grew up I knew that the chances of that were slim, but I still always kind of thought that we'd be pregnant at the same time. It didn't cross my mind that our kids wouldn't be the same age.

I am so happy for her and her husband, Abe. I know that they'll be great parents to little Jude. And if they ever need a good babysitter, they know who to call...
